SUMMARY

In early 2022, I started designing Sveikai, an ambitious startup born from our family business. Operating in a lean startup environment meant wearing multiple hats: I transitioned daily between Design Strategist, Lead Researcher, Salesperson, and CEO. This holistic vantage point allowed me to not only design the product but also to pitch it to municipalities and align the roadmap with the company’s long-term commercial goals.

As design strategist, I led the comprehensive user research and UX architecture for the entire platform. The challenge was massive: creating a unified digital tool that satisfied the diverse operational and reporting needs of every public health bureau in the country. By transforming stubborn, paper-based legacy processes into a streamlined digital ecosystem, I implemented solutions that optimized specialist workflows by 80%, turning hours of manual reporting into minutes of automated data management.

CHALLENGE

Designing a scalable system for Lithuania’s public health sector meant solving a high-stakes puzzle of regional complexity:

  • Institutional Diversity: Navigating the unique operational 'intricacies' of every public health bureau across the country.

  • User Heterogeneity: Engineering a single tool for vastly different personas—public health specialists, psychologists, school management and many more.

  • Regulatory Rigidity: Streamlining inconsistent municipal reporting requirements into a unified, compliant digital workflow.

  • Overcoming Deep-Seated Mistrust: Perhaps the greatest hurdle was user resistance. Specialists were exhausted by national systems that were prone to breaking and "freezing." I entered an environment where trust was at zero; the challenge was not just to build a tool, but to prove it was a reliable ally, not another digital burden.

IN-DEPTH USER RESEARCH: REBUILDING TRUST

To overcome this skepticism, I didn't design from an ivory tower. I went into the field to conduct empathy-led research:

  • The Pain Point Audit: I interviewed specialists and meticulously mapped the existing specialist workflows, pain points and needs.

  • Shadowing & Mapping: By observing the "pen-and-paper" dance specialists performed daily, I mapped the exact flow of data from school corridors to municipal databases.

  • Service Blueprinting: I visualised the entire ecosystem, identifying where data got stuck and where specialists were wasting the most energy.

TEMPLATE-BASED DATA COLLECTION

The "Aha!" moment of the project was the transition from free-form paper notes to dynamic, template-based data collection. By analyzing historical data patterns, together with the team we've created templates that pre-filled 60% of recurring information.

By digitising these paper processes and replacing them with intelligent templates, the impact was immediate and measurable:

  • Efficiency: Specialist administrative time was slashed by 60%.

  • Accuracy: Error rates in municipal reporting dropped significantly due to standardised input fields.

  • Human Impact: By removing the burden of paperwork, design allowed specialists to spend more time on actual public health initiatives and one-on-one sessions with those in need.

I established a strategy that embraced both business constraints and user clusters. Moving into the "skeleton" phase, I crafted UX wireframes that served as the product’s blueprint. Tailoring the interface for different roles—ensuring psychologists had the privacy they needed while administrators gained the oversight they required.

DESIGN STRATEGY & BRAND IDENTITY

I've developed the brand design from the ground up, ensuring that the visual identity communicated reliability, health, and modern efficiency.

  • Brand Strategy: Created a visual language that felt professional yet accessible, helping to differentiate Sveikai from the cold, outdated government systems users were used to.

  • User Clustering: Tailored the interface for different roles—ensuring psychologists had privacy while administrators gained necessary oversight.

RESULTS: A LEGACY OF TRANSFORMATION

  • 60% Time Savings: By digitizing paper-based processes and implementing template-based solutions, together with team we saved specialists 60% of their administrative time.

  • National Scale: Both the organization count and the active user base continue to grow, proving the tool's market fit and its ability to scale across diverse municipal needs.

  • Strategic Founder: Launched the startup as part of a family business, proving ability to lead both the design vision and the business strategy simultaneously.
